After drying off from a mid day surf I reflected on how lucky I was to be living in Australia.  The wind was offshore, a nice swell running, a few good waves and the sun shining bright, I was loving it.  It couldn’t have been any better, especially after such a pathetic summer.

The Northern Beaches seems to be living up to its reputation of being the insular peninsular, the troubles of the rest of world seemed so far away from us.  Not so true anymore.  The surf was pretty busy for the middle of the day and not surprising, with retailing struggling, a major surf brand re-structuring to stay alive.  Business is down across the board not just in surfing, but in the building and manufacturing industries.  Everyone has a bit of extra spare time on their hands.  God save the mining industry or we’d be screwed.

Interesting times for us here at Buy Buy Gone too.  Retailers are on winter sale already, new season clothing out the front of shops in some cases at below cost.  You talk to the owners and their hurting.  The words of one owner were worrying, he remarked that the rent was due on Monday and he needed to raise the cash!  These new benchmark prices will have an interesting effect on the retailing future. Things will not be the same again.

Buy Buy Gone launched on remembrance day last year, so we are coming up to our fifth month of trading, we’re still here.  Our subscriptions are growing and our web traffic steadily increasing with every day.  Our brands and products need to meet the demand of the web savvy shoppers.  We have a few additions to the catalogue but far from what we want.  Plenty of interest but no follow through.

We have the shopping eyes on us and they are willing to spend.  We do need to offer fresh items regularly so we need your stock!  If you have something to clear and are interested in selling please contact us.
